About area

The Articles of Incorporation were adopted by the AREA membership on August 17, 1994, and were amended August 23, 1998; April 7, 2003; October 7, 2004, and March 12, 2009.  

The Bylaws were amended by Board action in 1995, 1998, 2004, and 2009. 

The Internal Revenue Service accepted the Articles of Incorporation, and confirmed AREA as a nonprofit organization on July 8, 1996.

Our organization leads the discussions for aquatic leaders. AREA is organized for educational purposes. AREA members include representatives of State, Federal, industry, fisheries and educational professionals involved in aquatic resource education programs. The nationwide non-profit Association is created to foster, promote and encourage aquatic education.
