About area

The Articles of Incorporation were adopted by the AREA membership on August 17, 1994, and were amended August 23, 1998; April 7, 2003; October 7, 2004, and March 12, 2009.  

The Bylaws were amended by Board action in 1995, 1998, 2004, and 2009. 

The Internal Revenue Service accepted the Articles of Incorporation, and confirmed AREA as a nonprofit organization on July 8, 1996. 

  • AREA Tax and Accounting Status

The Aquatic Resources Education Association is a tax-exempt, non profit corporation under IRS 501(c)(3) regulations.  As a small non profit, we are digitally oriented and operated, meaning our President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer are in different geographic locations; our corporation operates online digitally, across channels, without a physical, centralized brick-and-mortar presence; and, we conduct our corporate business electronically. Our officers are elected every two years during our biennial meeting.

About us

AREA members participate in a national effort toward angler and aquatic education, angler R3, outreach, resource conservation, research, program evaluation, and similar functions related to aquatic education and angler R3 programs. AREA members can participate in the national biennial conference and regional meetings / updates.
